Troop E Centennial Coin

October 24, 2016

The graphic in the center of the coin of serene water with sail boats, hills, trees, and blue sky signifies the major unifying theme in Troop E, the Finger Lakes. Known as the “Finger Lakes Troop” since its creation in 1967, Troop E has proudly served the ten counties that comprise the Finger Lakes Region of New York State.
The four raised gold stars proudly honor the four Troop E Members who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The purple ribbon represents the rich tradition of the New York State Police being the only agency in the country that uses purple as a symbol of the Empire State to honor the Praetorian Guard, the elite guards of the Roman Empire. The inscription commemorates the 50th Anniversary of Troop E, which was formed from parts of three other Troops on September 9, 1967.
